Our Early Years children delighted us with their interpretation of the traditional tale of “The Three Little Pigs. In keeping with the EYFS Framework, Music and Drama form an important part of the programme for these young learners. Their actions in their concert were based around activities which already form a natural part of children’s development. These include action-based songs and rhymes, copying or ‘follow-my-leader’ games, group interaction, role-play and movement work. The excitement was palpable as the children put on their costumes and made their way to the hall. Those waiting their turn observantly listened for cues and animated whispers could be heard, “It me now! I’m a wolf!” Those off-stage joined in the singing spontaneously. Encouragement and development are the key words in concerts in the Early Years and both were evident in the participation of the youngest members of our school.
